my 2 month old daughter started having watery stools 2 days ago, I took her to the clinic and the Dr said to give her pedialyte . She hasn t been running a temp. Now today she has thrown up everything she has ate. Her eyes now appear to be puffy and red. should i take her back to the Dr or wait it out and see if it goes away?

Hi

Its better to have her seen by your Doctor again as small babies can go into dehydration easily.
She might need medications to control her vomiting.
It might all be due to a virus.

The main problem in diarrhea is dehydration.
Be sure she drinks well.
If she is on breast milk, continue to feed her.
Usually formula milk will not be tolerated by infants when they have loose stools. It might further increase the frequency of loose stools. If its so, you might need to temporarily put him on other formula like soya milk (Isomil).
If she is on formula and its given by a bottle, be sure bottle cleansing is done properly.

She must pass urine atleast 4 to 5 times in a day.
Continue with Pedialyte.
You may discuss with your doctor regarding probiotics like Econorm/ Bifilac- they will reduce the frequency of loose stools and duration of the illness.

Hope my answer helps you.
Wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
