Small Puppy, Suffering From Diarrhea, Yellowish Green Stools, No Vomiting. Cause Of Concern?
Hello, my puppy is 5 months old and for the last few days she s had diahrrea, we ve been kennel training her and she still goes in her kennel! (It s gross) twice I ve noticed her stools have been yellowish green and looming stringy...we haven t changed her diet and she has no vomiting and still acts as she always did. Should I be concerned??
Because it is most likely a case of rota virus induced diarrohoea
This is the commonest cause of diarrohoea in such age
Main treatment is re-hydration with "ORS" (MARKET AVAILABLE ORAL REHYDRATION SOLUTION.
Antibiotics will have limited role
Give frequent light feeds, soft diets, avoid high protein, ripe banana could be helpful
Consult pediatrician immediately without any delay: If the frequency and amount of stool increases, child look dehydrated, skin wrinkles, extremities become cold, looks dull and lethargy
Giving ORS is the mainstay of treatment to prevent complications
