Small White Bump On Gums, No Pain, Occurred After Chewing Tobacco. Suggestions?

I have a small white bump on my gum, it does not hurt, but it has been present for almost three weeks. I got it from chewing tobacco, however I had only been chewing for about three months when I got it. I have since quit but it has not gone away. It does not hurt, and it has progressively looked better, but has yet to go away. Any ideas? I will not be able to see a dentist for at least another five weeks.

White patches or bumps on gums can be due to ulcers bacterial or viral, infected gum abscess, ulceration of the tissue due to trauma , fungal infections like candidiasis, malignant conditions like leukoplakia seen due to chronic habits if tobacco chewing and smoking.
Since the area is not painful ,confirmation can be done only after clinical examination by a dentist.
So till you see a dentist , i would suggest you to apply topical oral antiseptics like dentogel over the affected area to prevent infection.
use chlorhexindine mouthwash to rinse the mouth , start with antioxidants Lycopene 2000mcg 2 times daily for 5 to 7 days which helps in tissue regeneration and healing.

thanks for sharing your concern.

since your history says that you have been chewing tobacco for about three months.so there could be possibility to develop some irritational lesion.

since it is not painful.you can be sure that there is no infection.

but it could be something else too.

there fore i would suggest you to visit your dentist. get a biopsy done. after that it can be confirmed what that lesion is.

until maintain good oral hygiene and take care.

I would like to inform you that a painless hard lump is something which needs a thorough dental check up in order to diagnose the cause. As mentioned by you, the bony lump is present for the past 3 weeks; have you noticed change in its size, shape or color?
As you have a history of consuming smokeless tobacco, the lump may be linked to tobacco.
I would appreciate if you could see an oral pathologist. He / she can carefully examine the lump and biopsy is entailed to confirm the true identity of the bump.

Bump on the gums can be because of several reasons abscess formation due to infected tooth or due to plague and calculus accumulation , ulcerations , chronic habits like smoking and tobacco chewing.

I would advice you to visit to a Dentist and get checkup done .
Take an x-ray .
Get complete mouth scaling and polishing done.
Maintain a good oral hygiene .
Use chlorhexidine mouthwash gargles twice daily.
