Smoking Regularly. Numbness In Cheek, Swelling Sensation, Mucus Lumps In Throat. Help

I am 20 years old male and i started smoking about an year back. I use to smoke 7-8 cigarettes daily but then i cut down to 2-3 daily. Now from the last 1 week i am having this weird numbness or pressure in my right cheek and swelling sensation on the right side of the face. The swelling sensation subsided and my cheek numbness is also getting better. However whenever i give a strong touch to my cheek i feel a lot of pressure. I have very small mucuos lumps in my throat as well which i think cause the soreness. I am freaking out and dont know what to do. Please help

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms that you have described appear to me to be unlikely to be due to smoking and are most probably due to some benign illness, maybe facial palsy. I would advise you to stop worrying and see a doctor instead, so that all your fears can be allayed.

Best wishes.
