Soft Lump On Elbow. Popped It, Drained Liquid, Hard Lump Leaking Clear Fluid, Hole Formed. Treatment?
about 25 years ago i developed a small soft lump on my elbow , about 4 years ago it started growing untill it was about the size of a golf ball, my gp prescribed anti biotics and anti inflammatory s which made no difference, eventually i cut it open and drained it myself, i am now left with a small hard lump which leaks cleas smelly fluid and the hole i made refuses to heal

Hi ! Thanks for asking ! Wait ! You say you operate on your own ? Want to say if you thought that GP didn't understand, need to consult with surgeon. NOW ! what to do ! Take pain killer if pain apply betadine and cover with cotton and now it is time to meet a surgeon for further procedure. Don't worry be safe thing will be fine. Bye.

This lump is there for last 4 years.The first possibility which come to my mind is sebious cyst.The second possibility is of lipoma and third one could be a boil.The hole you have created is not healing may be due to infection.I would suggest you to take broad spectrum antibiotic like levofloxacin for a week .If wound doesn't heal after one week of treatment,consult an orthopediac surgeon may take biopsy from non healing wound to determine what exactly it is.
