Sore And Stiff Thumb With Swelling At Night, Pain At Base Of Thumb. On Mobic For SI Joint Arthritis. Any Suggestions?

My thumb has been swelling just at night, it is sore and stiff in the morning. The soreness is present all day, but swelling subsides. The most pain is in the proximal joint, swelling is the entire thumb. I also have pain in the wrist area at the base of the thumb. I am a 54 yo F with no major health problems. I am on Mobic 15mg qd for SI joint arthritis.

Hi,
the swelling and pain is because of arthritis and you are on proper medication for it.it will take time for the swelling and pain to come down . proper rest and physiotherapy will help you to some extent.
If the pain is only in thumb, especially in the night, then you have to get your urate levels checked. It can be gout. You need to see rheumatologist if needed.
