Sore Throat And Nose Bleeding Of A Person Having High Blood Pressure

166 over 108 BP- my husband just left to go to a walk-in clinic The blood pressure was taken at a drug store. He has been sick with a sore throat and head cold for about 5 days now, but yesteday had a nosebleed and that happened again today. Should we be concerned?

HI,
In severe infection of upper respiratory tract , nose bleed is not uncommon.
Sometimes with lung infection,blood pressure may go up.
If your husband smokes then he should quit.
He requires consultation in person.

Nosebleed is the cause of hypertension as well as severe rhinitis. B.P should not be ignored and 170/110 is fair enough to start with antihypertensives.
