Sore Throat, Pain To Talk Or Swallow, Pain In Ears, Joints Of Jaw, Swollen Glands And Tonsils. History Of Fever, Chills. Help
For five days I've had the most excruciating sore throat. It hurts to talk or swallow. I also have pain in both ears and my jaw joint as well as lower jaw. For two days I had a temp of 101 on and off. I also had a headache, chills, body aches and night sweats. I'm tired I can't eat. My tonsils are swollen and my glands. Now I see white one my tonsils. Please help. My son was similarly sick a couple of weeks ago but tested negative for strep

HI, The symptoms you have, suggests acute tonsillitis.It can be either bacterial or viral. To exclude bacterial infection,a quick staphylococcal test is usually done. In case it is -ve a culture of throat swab is sometimes needed. - Take rest. - Take a combination of paracetamol-acetoaminophen for fever control &pain/swelling relief.Antibiotics are to be added with a doctors consultation. -Hot saline gargles help - Have a light,non spicy,non oily food. Avoid sour or cold things. By this treatment ususally there is relief within 1 weeks time Sometimes,a long standing,severe tonsillitis needs tosilectomy.
