Spotting, Pain, Enlarged Uterus, Due For Abdominal Hysterectomy. Is There A Possibility Of Ovarian Cancer ?
i am due to have an adominal hysterectomy next month with ovarian management. I have had 18 months of trouble with spotting, pain and have had 2 D & C's both saying I have an enlarged uterus, with hyperplasia and fibroids and a polyp that gets removed with each D & C but keeps growing back within 6 months. I have had 2 gynaecologists do it and both have thought I had uterine cancer but pathology comes back that I don't. I am concerned I now have ovarian cancer but no one will say until after the surgery. Is this a possibility
You should be happy that pathologically it has been confirmed that you don't have uterine cancer. The symptoms that you have been having will settle down with the surgery. Harmonal imbalances do contribute to endometrial hyperplasia ,endometrial polyp and fibroid. In your case all are benign. So, atleast the chances of ovarian metastases is remote. The only other possibilty is a associated ovarian abnormality from harmones which would also be confirmed after the surgery. There is no need to worry now ,as your illness identified so far is totally curable and the chances of further diagnosis of a bad disease is very slim.
