Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since you are a known case of
staphylococcal infection /
skin infection .
Sulfa methoxazole + amoxy+clavulanic tablets are not effective .
However these medicines are most potent drugs so reason may be else.
1 May be carbuncle , diagnosis can be confirmed by biopsy of this wound ( as this is a single wound so precaution is very important ) . Blood sugar level is also important .
An increasing number of cases are now caused by methicillin- resistant strains of
streptococcus pyogenes &
staphylococcus aureus . The antibiotics as you used may ineffective due to resistance , so only option is parental antibiotics , so
consult a dermatologist and get his opinion after culture & sensitivity test.
2 Diabetic non-healing ulcer , diagnosis can be confirmed by all tests for diabetes.
3 Blood supply may impeded so go for vascular study.
So consult a dermatologist and get his opinion as most potent antibiotics failed.
Good luck. Dr. HET
