Stopped Combined Pill. Had Withdrawal Bleed. No Periods Since. Experiencing Pregnancy Symptoms. Pregnancy Tests Negative. Matter Of Concern?

Hi I stopped taking combined pill 11 weeks ago, I had a very brief withdrawal bleed and haven't had period . I have done a number of pregnancy tests that have been negative. I have experienced a number of pregnancy symptoms such as feeling sick, being very tired, swollen abdomen, back ache and dull ache in my lower part of my stomach. My breast are also increasing in size, should I be worried?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Pregnancy tests usually appear positive 15 days after possible unprotected sex. This gives an accurate result in most cases. You can get an ultrasound scan done if your suspected last menstrual period was more than 6 weeks back. This will show the presence of a gestation sac or decidual reaction in the uterus to show that a pregnancy has begun.

If your pregnancy tests and ultrasound scan are negative for pregnancy, other causes like medical disorders or hormonal imbalance must be evaluated.

Hope this helps
