Stringy, Viscous, White Gunk Coming From Eyes, Stopped Wearing Contacts. Is Pure Saline Ok To Put For Eyes ?

hello i am vacationing away from home and my Opthalmologist. both eyes have stringy, viscous, white "gunk" coming out for a couple days. I have stopped wearing my contacts. At pharmacy, I think I just bought the wrong product: I thought I read online that I should use a saline solution, but what I bought seems to be a saline solution just for soaking the contacts. Is a pure saline solution ok to put directly into the eye for this problem or not? After how many days of this do I go find a local eye doc? Thanks for advice. AAAAA, age 73 ps I had a yearly checkup in June and all was well then.

stop wearing the lens... many cases have been reported with lens causing keratitis due to very serious microbial organisms.. contact nearest ophthalmologist.. till den use ciplox-d drops..
any discharge from eye is an indication of its irritation .. take immediate action on ur eye...

Your symptoms could be related to either an allergic reaction or dry eyes or mild and early conjunctivitis.
Till you consult your doctor, you can use some artificial tear drops.
Pure saline doesn't harm your eyes but neither gives any relief.
But the solution for soaking contacts may contain some chemicals which may produce some burning sensation.Instead you can use the above said artificial tear drops till you consult your doctor..
Do not rub your eyes which increases your symptoms..
