Stuck Face In Water While Swimming, Developed Cough, Runny Nose. Given Tylenol. Should I Worry ?

Hi,
I took my 14 month old son swimming today. At one point he accidentally stuck his face in the water and started to cough quite a bit for a few moments. After that he recovered to his normal self after a few minutes.
What concerned me later, though, was over the next several hours he would have an occasional cough. A runny nose appeared at the same time. Other than that, he is acting normally.
Now he's asleep for the night, and seems very fitful. Waking to cry out ever 15 min or so, then falling back asleep. I gave him Tylenol, as he seems perhaps to be teething.
So all of this is to ask: should I be worried about the cough appearing after swallowing some water earlier?

Hi,
As now he is alright nothing to worry.
If he is having cough or fever after few hours as it is likely that some amount of water might enter in his respiratory tract causing some infection like aspiration pneumonia.
Then consult pediatrician and get examined.
He may go for antibiotic medicine course to prevent infection.
Ok and take care.
