Suffer Osteoporosis And Osteoarthritis; Some Early And Some Moderate. What Is The Meaning ?
i have both osteoporosis and osteoarthritis - i am told some of the arthritis is early degeneration and some is moderate degeneration - what is moderate please? also my osteoporosis is severe and i am told i have brittle bones - i am in pain alot of the time - can this be due to having such brittle bones?
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative (breakdown) joint disease. It usually occurs because of wear and tear on the bone. There is breakdown of the cartilage between the bone and the bone itself. Early degeneration would imply that the breakdown is in the early or initial stages and moderate-there is more severe damage elsewhere.
The osteoarthritis is the most likely cause for the pain that you are experiencing. This can be managed with pain medication and physiotherapy to increase muscle strength.
Osteoporosis refers to a decrease in bone mass and bone density. The bones become 'brittle' as you described. There is an increase risk of fracture.
I hope this helps
