Suffered From Miscarriage, Following A D&C, Contracted Sepsis. Time Duration To Conceive?
Hi.. I have two children, first child was emergency section, second child elective section. I was pregnant October 2012 but suffered a miscarriage at 12 weeks. Following D&C I contracted sepsis and had to undergo laparotomy surgery. Very traumatic experience. My query is how long should I wait to try for another baby..is it safe to carry a child with the two horizontal and one vertical scar on my tummy?
Hello thanks for writing to us with your health concern. It is very unfortunate that you had to suffer such grave complications after a relatively safe procedure like D and C. To answer your question - with two horizontal and one vertical scar, why would you want to take a risk again ? Chances of scar rupture are high with the next pregnancy, and elective section would have to be scheduled at 36 - 37 weeks. Also, the C section next time would be fraught with complications due to so many previous surgeries and resultant adhesions. You have two kids - why not enjoy them? take care
