Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of unknown cause. Its is not contagious.

Psoriasis is currently not curable but can be controlled with medication.

There are many effective treatment choices for psoriasis. The best treatment is individually determined by the treating physician and depends, in part, on the type of disease, the severity, and the total body area involved.

Psoralen + Ultraviolet A (PUVA) and PUVA + acitretin (Re-PUVA) are effective in treatment of generalized Psoriasis. If your mother has only limited cutaneous Psoriasis, PUVA is not recommened.

This treatment is available in Dermatology department of all big corporate hospitals.
You can visit Department of Dermatology in Manipal Hospital on Airport Road. That is one of the best department in this kind of diseasess.

I would suggest you to consult your Dermatologist first for the treatment options as he knows the stage of your mother's disease.

I hope this answers your query.

I will be available for follow up queries if any.

Regards.
