Suffering From Intestial Lung Disorder. Have Fever, Reduced Oxygen Intake, Weak. Got Diabetes
My mom of age 73 is suffering from intestial lung disorder for the past 3 yrs.she is quite normal with almost 15 hr of oxygen intake per day and her oxygen intake was in the range 85-95. But for the last week she was suffering from slight fever and gradually her oxygen intake is reduced to 60 percent normally and 80percent with an oxygen machine .she has now began to take almost 24 hr oxygen intake. She has become weak and is not able to eat.she is a diabetic and waiting for a reply quickly from a good pulmonologist whether to admit her or she can sustain it.
Since your mother already has a compromised lung function any infection could potentially affect this because her body now also has to work to find an infection and there would be increased oxygen requirements.
It would be best to take her to her doctor for assessment, IF her oxygen saturations continue to dip then the doctor will have to admit her to the hospital.
In hospital , she would be given oxygen more effectively and treatment would be initiated for the infection.
I hope this helps
