Suffering From Nose Blockage Due To Heavy Stains During Night. Slight Deviation Of Bone Seen In Nose X-ray. Suggestions?

I am Prasad from Pune. I am suffering from nose blokage due to heavy stains during nights for last 8 months. I have shifted from Coimbatore to Pune (humid place to chill and dry place) about 8 months before. I am consulting Doctor for last 7 months but no improvement on this problem. I went for nose X ray- its ok but slight deviation of bone and then I went to CT scan and the report says that polyp is thickening. I am using Ayurvedic medicines as per Ayurvedic doctor to control the growth of polyp thickening.

But Nose blockage during nights is disturbing and not allowing me to have good sleep.

I feel the root cause for this issue is the stains formation in the nose, these stains are yellowish in colour.

Looking forward for your expert suggestions.

Regards

Durga Prasad

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
it seems that this problem might be due to Deviated Nasal Septum and nasal polyp as this problem is since long.
Consult ENT specialist and get examined.
Surgery procedure can be done.
Meanwhile put some decongestant nasal drops.
Ok and take care.

ENT Specialist Dr. Vaishali Mehta's  Response
Hello Durgaprasad,

Thanks for your query. The cause for your nose block could be the polyp with deviation of the septum of the nose contributing to it. Also, the yellowish discharge that you describe is suggestive of a secondary sinus infection. These factors put together are contributing to your nose blockage. You could get some relief with steam inhalations and nose drops. But, nose drops are not good in the long run.
I would suggest you to see an ENT Specialist, who will physically examine your nose, go through your scans and decide if you need surgery to correct the above. Hope I have answered your query.

Regards,
Dr Vaishali
