Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a large hiatal hernia. After eating some very sticky rice tonight, I got a pressured feeling in this area. I tried to vomit several times to get bolus of food out of hernia. After several emeses, I suddenly noticed that the muscle alongside the trachea is swollen and tender. I have a cold washcloth on it. Should I do anything else to get the rice out of hernia or to help my poor neck muscle?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. Also, certain antiacid medications may be required, but if this is large hernia then the best and the only permanent solution would be surgical repair which can be done laparoscopically in most centres today and I recommend it since results are very good.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
