Hi, I was in the ER on Friday (1:00 am) with a severe stomach problems and was told I has Gastroenteritis. I was given an Iv for the stomach pain and vomiting. I was put on a bland diet and give medication for the vomiting. For three (3) dayys I have not had a bowel movement and the bloating and stomach pain is back. I called Nurse Services at Kaiser and she recommeded I should go back to the ER. Is there a OTC medication I can take?
hi welcome to health care magic. constipation can occur following a bout of gastroenteritis. you can take a course of ranitidine 150 twice a day for 1 week. Make sure you are back on normal diet. If you are experiencing colicky pain along with loose stools it is likely your ge has not cleared. you can take tab hyocimax stat for the pain and see your doctor regarding antibiotic prescription
