Hi and Welcome to HCM,

Try to keep your normal activities. A hot flannel (cloth) placed over the vein. This may ease the pain. Take pain killers such as Ibuprofen (if you are not pregnant). Also keep Paracetamol as an alternative. You can also use anti-inflammatory creams or gels like Ibuprofen cream. You can also use Hirudoid cream. Fondaparinux an injection which can be taken with the help of doctors prescription.

Please raise affected the affected leg.


You can do this by lying on a sofa and putting the leg up on some cushions. When sleeping in bed, you can keep your leg raised by putting it on a pillow.

Apply compression (support) stockings. These may be advised by your doctor if a vein in your leg is affected.
