Suggest A Remedy For Swelling On Cheek Due To Toothache

Hello Doctors,
My mother has developed swelling of her right cheek due to severe tooth pain and she is having difficulty chewing as that side of her mouth is under pain. Request your advice on the right course of action for the tooth pain and the swelling.

Hi.
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your mother has got an infection in tooth and the infection has progressed beyond the root tips of the tooth and there is Pus formation leading to Dental Abscess..
At times pus perforates the bone and accumulates in the soft tissues leading to swelling and pain..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise an x ray of the offending tooth..
In case if tooth is in condition to be saved a course of antibiotics and painkillers will be given to her and once the swelling will reduce Root Canal Treatment followed by capping the tooth can resolve the problem as well as tooth will be saved..
But on case if tooth is grossly decayed extraction of tooth will be done..
As of now she can take painkiller like Ibuprofen or TRAMADOL but immediate treatment is must for complete relief..
