Hello
I have gone through your question.
Bisoprolol belongs to a class of drugs called beta-blockers.
These are a type of medication used to treat
high blood pressure and heart problems.
However, they are also prescribed off-label for anxiety.
Beta blockers work by blocking the effects of
norepinephrine, a
stress hormone involved in the fight-or-flight response.
This helps control the physical symptoms of anxiety such as
rapid heart rate, a trembling voice, sweating, dizziness, and shaky hands or if you are anticipating a specific anxiety-producing situation (such as giving a speech), taking a beta blocker in advance can help reduce your “nerves.”
Weight gain can be a serious side effect of Bisoprolol.
If you have decided to change this drug the alternatives are other beta blocers like propranolol(Inderal) and atenolol (Tenormin).
YOu should know that all the beta blockers can expand the waistline but in my opinion with propranolol, your can controlle better your weight fluctuations.
Anyway my advice is to wait your doctor's decision before you change the medication.
Hope this is helpful.
If you have other queries, feel free and ask.
Best regards.
