Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Dad is a member of the VA and has been on Coumadin for a few years after having a history of TIAs. His usual dose is 7.5 mg tab po qhs. They have not sent him his refill via mail and I need to know what to give him in place of it until he gets the refill- he has taken baby aspirin prior to the Coumadin....
Hello, There is not really anything that you can give him over the counter that will take the place of coumadin. He could take an aspirin but it is not as effective as the coumadin. Taking aspirin with coumadin can increase the risk of bleeding complications. Regards, Dr. Robinson
