Suggest Alternate Over The Counter Medication For Lialda

I was recently prescribed Lialda. Insurance will only pay 2/3. It is expensive monthly. Insurance recommended Balsalazide in its place for a much less monthly cost. I have a call into my doctor to see if this recommended medicine is comprehable. Any thoughts?

Hi,

Yes, the said drugs can be used interchangeably. However it should only be done after advice o your doctor.

Beslazine is from the same group and used for the same disease.it is converted to meslazine ( the same drug that is in lialda).

So may used instead of that. But so it only after discussion with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
