Suggest Alternate Treatment For Severe Knee Pain

Hi Sir/Madam,

Am from Bangalore. My mother is 63yrs old and is suffering from arthritis. She has severe knee pain (right knee) from past 5 months. She was advised traction and was under physiotherapy for ten days. After this there is improvement (the space is increased & her knee rests easily and completely when she stretches her leg). However she is unable to walk normally & when consulted doctor's they are posing for knee surgery.

Since she is quite old and diabetic we are unable to decide if we have to opt for surgery. Please suggest us what is the better option and about the post surgery what are the disadvantages and the time for recovery. Your inputs/suggestions would definitely give us some insight & would help us to take decision.

Thanks in advance for your valuable inputs.

Regards,
Priya

Well...your mother has osteoarthritis... A pretty common in elder people...if you feel that your mother cannot cope with the diseases instead of medicines and physiotherapy then surgery will be the last option.
Your mother is also diabetic ..its a risk to surgery but if she control her blood sugar then surgery is not risky.
The surgical option carry good prognosis..
Befir surgery they will refer your mother to endocrinologist, after his opinion then surgery will take place...
Bye...prayers for tour mother
