Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Nicorandil
Dear Dr, I suffer from mouth ulcers but they tend to clear in approx 2 weeks, but now have a large ulcer at the back of my tongue which has been there approx 6 to 7 weeks. I am going for a biopsy this coming Monday. I am a long standing heart patient since 1985 and presently am taking 40mg of Nicorandil daily along with the other many heart drugs. Have been taking Nicorandil for as long as I have suffered with mouth ulcers. I also have an anal fissure so worry a little when I hear of anal cancer. Will be asking my GP what alternatives may be out there to replace Nicorandil. Any comments please? Yours, Anthony Suart.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello,
You should consult your cardiologist as there are many drugs besides nicorandil for heart disease. Besides this, anal fissure does not exclusively mean anal cancer. For mouth ulcer, get a dental opinion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
