Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Veltassa To Lower Potassium Levels In Blood
Is there another medication to lower potassium levels other than Valtassa? I am a 40 year old mentally handicap male who also has diabetes (insulin injections). Since starting the Valtassa, my blood sugar levels have increased. I also take Lasix for my high level of potassium. (My mom is contacting you in hopes of finding another medication).

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Actually, Veltassa is not known to cause rise in blood sugar in diabetes... still if you are keen to change the medication ,Renvela/Sodium polysterene sulphonate are the alternatives available... You have to discuss this for the suitability for you & get prescription for starting the result. Thanks
