Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic
I have read your question completely and understand your concerns.
As you are unable to take
Pregabalin, you could try
Gabapentin. Start with 100 mg three times a day and after 3- 5 days you can increase to 300 mg 3 times a day. You can then slowly titrate thus upwards upto maximum of 600 mg three times a day. Most of my patients are able to tolerate the maximum dose of Gabapentin well.
Alternatively, you could try
Amitriptyline. Start at 10-25 mg at night time. You can then slowly titrate it to maximum of 150 mg nightly within 3-4 weeks. Amitriptyline has some side effects like
drowsiness, dry mouth etc, but most of patients tolerate them well at low doses.
You could ask your doctor to check your Serum folate and
Vitamin B12 levels, you have folate and B12 supplements if your levels are low.
I am not from USA, hence I do not know if Gabapentin and Amitriptyline are available under Obamacare. Can you kindly visit your doctor and check with him first.
I wish you all the best.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you.
Regards
Dr Sunita Sayammagaru
