Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my grandfather has been taking nise MR for the past 5 years or so whenever he has high fever, or joint pain or gout problem etc..he has an arthritis problem also. he is also diabetic. but recently we came to know that nise MR has side effects.can you tell me an alternative medicine for pain relief? he is allergic to sulpha and pennicillin
Hello ! Your grandfather appears to taking Nise-MR on an `as required ' basis. Has he ever experienced any untoward effect while taking it ? It appears to work for him(that's why he has continued taking it for so long). While it is true that Nise MR has side effects it is equally true that any other medication will also have its own set of possible adverse effects. In my opinion a medicine shown to be effective while not having any discernible side effect should not be discontinued. There are several painkillers available for example Voveran,Dolo-650 etc. which have proven efficacy and could be used and then assessed for their efficacy. Hope this helped All the best!
