Suggest An Alternative For Ativan When Suffering From Anxiety

Hi, im a 30yr old female, Who has had bad anxiety for a real long time (teenage years). I was never gave anything for at at that time. As I grew up I started drinking a lot, and was finally getting a lot of medical attention. They started me off with Prozac, then wellbutrien. Soon enough they were giving my adavain at my er-visits due mostly to withdraws.They never give me a full prescription only 12 1mgs when I have left. Since they have tried a few other thing such as Paxil, viteral. Nothing seems to work as well as the adivan. is there something else simillier that I can suggest to my dr.tomorrow. I am done trying everything when I know what works... thank you

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Ativan is Lorazepam and is a benzodiazepine drug. The drug is one of good drug for control of symptoms of anxiety. But it is not advisable to take the drug regularly for more than 4 weeks and should be taken usually on SOS basis for anxiety. Prozac and Wellbutrin both are anti anxiety drugs and will help to reduce the anxiety. If these drugs are not working fine then you can ask for prescription of Ativan for use on SOS basis. If that is not possible then drugs like Gabapentin or Pregabalin can be tried. The drugs help to reduce anxiety and will reduce the craving. Visit your doctor for prescription of these drugs.
