Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom has been on Gabapentin before at 4800 mg per day....she had a reaction to her meds and was taken off several of her meds...gabapentin was one she was taken off of....new dr put her on gabapentin at 300mg per day...she is now going to go to a new pcp....should we have the gabapentin changed?
If your mother is not experiencing any reaction on Gabapentin, it is perfectly fine to continue Gabapentin. If she develops a rash, hives, breathing difficulty etc discontinue Gabapentin and follow up with her treating physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
General & Family Physician
