Suggest An Exercise Regime While Recovering From Metatarsal Fractures In Legs

Hi. I have had 3 stress fractures in the las 6mths. 2nd metatarsal on left foot and 2nd and 3rd metatarsal on right foot. All are healing well after wearing boot for 3 weeks. I used to walk up to 10k per day and jog 5k 3 or 4 times a week. I am slowly building back up my exercise regime but it has been suggested that I get a more stable running shoe and possibly invest ID some orthotics, but I don t know how to go about choosing the correct ones.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should meet a podologist with all of your X-rays and medical reports. He would take some measurements, get changes in your metatarsals and arch of the foot and advise shoes and orthotics according to your specific need.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
