Suggest Better Hearing Aids For A Person Who Had A Stapedectomy 50 Years Ago?
Hi, I had a stapedectomy in my right ear, probably 52 years ago. They replaced the stapes bone with a stainless steel wire. Didn t help much. I then had it done on the other ear about about 16 years ago. they used a plastic tube after the stapes bone was removed. Was hoping the plastic might work better. It helped a little for awhile. I m wondering if there might be a new procedure that might help. I wear two digital hearing aids.& struggle to understand words even with those. I am 80 yrs young & have worn aids since I was 28. It seems to be a hereditary condition.
You can be tried with revision stapedectomy. But due to your age, no invasive procedure needed. At present you opt for Siemens top end hearing side in both ears, which will give you better result. Take care.
