Hi there and thanks for sharing your question with HCM.
I need to be very honest with you and tell you that unprotected sex can almost always result in
pregnancy. Withdrawal (
coitus interruptus) is not effective
contraception (preventing pregnancy) at all because sperm can leak out even before a man ejaculates (cums) - therefore, there is a great chance that you could fall pregnant.
There is no proper home remedy for emergency contraception. You have two options for emergency contraception - You need to consider getting a morning - after pill such as
levonorgestrel from the nearest clinic or pharmacy as soon as possible. It is still safe to take even if you are
breastfeeding. If taken in the first 24 hours after unprotected sex, it is 95% efficacious at preventing pregnancy. If taken within 25 - 48 hours after unprotected sex, it is 85% efficacious. Side effects include
nausea, headache, abdominal cramping and light bleeding.
The other option is to have your regular doctor insert an IUD. This is 99% effective in preventing pregnancies even up to 5 days after unprotected sex. It can also be used as an ongoing method of contraception - meaning it can be left inside for a period of time or until you decide to have another baby - you will need to ask your doctor when you need to replace it or remove it.
Please understand that a lady can become fertile as soon as she has delivered a baby - women fall pregnant even within a month or 2 of having a baby. So do practice effective contraception and take care.
