Suggest Cause And Medications For Cold And Cough With Nose Bleeds In Children

My 5 year old daughter has had a cough and cold for about 3 months now. It stays the same relatively mild and never progressing into anything. She has also had some nose bleeds. One was in the middle of the night which was quite bad. Any ideas what to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
Due to continuous cold infection, the nasal mucosa became raw and caused the bleeding.
In children the cough or cold of duration more than a week should be alarmed. It may be allergic, or viral cold, or esinofilic infection leading to the bacterial super infection, and caused the raw nasal mucosa, cough etc.
I advise you to consult a pediatrician for diagnosis. She may need to run a series of tests for diagnosis.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms cifixime, phenylefrine, citrizine, till the diagnosis is established.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
