Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
why meth causes seizures/ My buddy has never shown signs of meth use and never had seizures until he had two yesterday. After being forced to go to the Hospital he tested positive for Meth. How long or what amount would he have had to been doing in order to cause seizures?
Meth is a stimulant like other amphetamines. All stimulants can cause seizures when taken in high dosages or taken by people with a susceptibility for seizures. Even a single dose of minute quantity may be responsible if your friend had a low seizure threshold. Some medicines can lower the seizure threshold. Infections and space occupying lesions in the brain can also be responsible. I am sure his doctors will make a thorough assessment of all possibilities.
Best wishes.
