Suggest Cause & Medications For Non Ischemic Cardiomyopothy In Pregnant Woman
Hello, I am 36 and 15 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with non ischemic cardiomyopothy as well as afib and a flutter in both chambers. I am having very frequent skipped beats that are making me sooo uncomfortable. They are taking my breath away, making me dizzy, and blurred vision. Should I go to the ER?
Cardiomyopathy is a very dangerous disease to have while pregnant. Your blood volume and the stress on your heart increases as the pregnancy goes on, and you have a significant risk of going into heart failure and rarely, even death.
I recommend that you go to the ER for evaluation of your current problem, but of you haven't done so already, I strongly advise you to see a perinatogist for your pregnancy as well as a cardiologist. Many women like you in the U.S. are managed at major university medical centers with ICUs. Your pregnancy will require a lot of care from specialist doctors to ensure your and the baby's safety.
So please seek emergency care now and I hope you find an appropriate specialist to care for you during this high-risk pregnancy.
I hope this information was helpful and best wishes for the pregnancy.
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
