Suggest Cure For A Pigmentation Problem

What might cause the skin of the calves and shins to feel almost sun burnt without any sun exposure. There is also discoloration - some brownish, some reddish but definitely not a burn. It kind of feels a little lumpy and hard to the touch - both lower legs

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Discoloration of the skin of lower leg could be a result of chronic venous stasis, also known as lipodermatosclerosis wherein the skin gradually turns dark ( brown or bluish blsck), hardened and bound down . I suggest you to get a duplex venous ultrasound of both the lower limbs. This would tell whether there is venous incompetence causing discoloration and hardening of the skin.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
