Suggest Daily Dosage For Orofer In Infants
Hi doctor, My daughter is 1 year old. My doctor has advised her Orofer XT Suspension (Ferrous Ascorbate and Folic Acid suspension) for iron deficiency. Each 5 ml of this medicine has equivalent iron of 30 mg. Request you kindly advise on the daily dosage for my daughter. Thanks, Prashant

the dose for iron supplements in iron deficiency anemia is 3-6 mg of iron/kg/day per orally divided in three doses given 8 hourly. SO lets suppose you child is 8 kg, the range of dose would be from 24 to 48 mg per day. so that makes it 7.5 ml average. so half teaspoon(2.5) in 3 doses 8 hours apart is the recommended one.
