Dear Sir My son is on Prednisolone syrup 20 Mg per day as he is diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome now he has slight dry cough . Can we give ambrolite along with prednisolone His initial 6 weeks of full dosage is just over. do we need to maintain that dosage till his cough subsides. Also he has increased throid with TSH 19 initially which has come down to 2 now. He was on 25 mg thryrox. How to taper it
Hi,Thanks for consulting at HCM. Dry cough while your child is on prednisolone due to nephrotic syndrome is worrisome.Hypothyroidism and nephrotic syndrome are both known to cause accumulation of fluid around lungs,called pleral effusion.It could be due to pneumonia as he is at more risk.No need to taper off this early,just monitor TSH 3 monthly.
