Suggest Effect Alternative Pain Medication To Hydrocodone

I recently had back surgery and was prescribed hydrocodone for pain. After discharge, I had allergic reaction and had severe swelling of right side of my face and both hands where I had had IVs. I also had hives on arms and legs. Is there other severe pain relief medication I can take if I have to have another surgery? My allergist said to stay away from any opioids. Thanks

Hi,

You can try Tylenol 625 mg oral can use twice also a day, and topical is available (muscle rub or air Salonpas) these don't have opioids. If Tylenol is not enough to then replace it with Acetagesic (acetaminophen + phenyltoloxamine) 325/30.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
