Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got this knee pain just after playing 2 games of basketball, I m usually always active but have had knee pains before. I haven t played for a while. The pain feels like a air bubble on my left knee on the right side it dosnt hurt until I twist it or move a certain way. I can walk and run on it but I m worried if I move it the wrong way it s going to get worse. Do you know any type of treatment I can do at home?
As the problem is sports-related thus it is possible that either some acute/chronic symptoms have arisen or could be a flare-up of hidden pathology.
PS. Consult your doctor/Orthopedic Surgeon for thorough medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests.
2. As the symptoms are hurting, you need urgent medical evaluation since it could be a blood clot [DVT- deep vein thrombosis] which has to be immediately excluded so seek medical intervention or visit an ER, till then
- use warm compresses on the knee 3-4 times a day [ not more than 20 minutes] and use an Ace wrap on it while you are moving around.
- Avoid climbing stairs, sitting on the floor as far as possible.
- Use commode, instead of Indian style.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Munish Sood
