Suggest Ideal Dosage Of Levothyroxine For A Patient Diagnosed With Graves Disease

I am 65 years old and have Graves disease. My thyroid was radiated around 15 years ago and has zero function. I currently take 1 tablet of levothyroxine .125mg daily for 5 days and a half tab of it on Saturday and on Sunday. I missed my pill yesterday evening. I have taken 1 this evening. Should I add the missed pill.

Hii , Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

I have gone through Your query and will try to provide information you need on it I hope it help

As You mention Your daily dose of 125mg , i would like to correct it as it is 125 mcg (Micro grams) and not 125 mg

as far as the dose is concern normally maintenance dose for replacement therapy in hypothyroidism is usually 100 - 200 mcg daily depending on your body weight

so i think you are on correct dose if your symptoms are under control but i would strongly recommend you to get in touch with your GP in every 6-8 weeks for monitoring your disease

Further more You asked about missed dose , i will suggest not to miss your daily dose and if you missed it than Take the missed dose as soon as you remember But Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

morever i will advise you to keep visiting your GP every 6-8 weeks to keep it check regularly

Thanks & Get well Soon
