Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a cough, low grade fever, extreme fatigue, and multiple infections for months now. My doctor has ordered 2 CBC's and a thyroid test over the last 2 weeks and both came back normal. She seems to think I need to try exercise, but won't listen to me when I say that makes it worse. Is there anything else I can do to get back to my normal self? Or any tests I can ask my doctor to order?
Understanding your concern. As per your query cough and mild fever is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. You may have lung infection or bronchitis. Need not to panic about it. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid taking cold beverages. Do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and get it examined. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function test done. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents . For now do warm saline rinses , take rest. Go for complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any thrombocytopenia and any hidden systemic pathology. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
