Hello Sore throat with excessive cough with expectoration ( phlegm or sputum ) may be due to following reason , these includes. 1 Acute asthmatic bronchitis turned into chronic bronchitis , usually wheezing sound with crepitations present in such type of cases with excessive amount of cough with sputum and breathlessness. Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination by a physician. 2 Bronchiectasis , in this usually copious amount of sputum present along cough . Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination with x ray chest. 3 Tuberculosis may be the next reason but history in not an indication of tuberculosis . So just for precaution get in X RAY CHEST with sputum examination for A F B ( however tuberculosis is ruled out due to short history of illness). So consult a primary care physician and get his opinion. Good luck.
