Suggest Medication For Discoloration On Facial Skin Due To Sunburn
Hello Dr. I had sever sun burns as a result of prolong exposure to harsh climatic conditions which have rendered my face completely discolourated and i notice that it seems as the skin on my fore head seems not to exfoliate. Kindly advise what medication am to use Am a male from africa and light skined.
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards severe sunburn . Excessive exposure to sun activates cells known as melanocytes to produce excess melanin pigment . I would suggest you to :-
- Wash your face daily with mild soap and cold water daily twice .
- Apply kojic acid cream ( kojivit ) after washing face twice a day .
- Exfoliate skin once a week .
- Apply vitamin C serum at night for quick recovery .
If condition doesn't get better in a month then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe steroid ointments or retinoids . Doctor may also recommend procedures like laser therapy or dermabrassion.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
