Suggest Medication For Itchiness Around Vagina And Anus

I have had vaginal as well as itching around my anus for a week now, for the first three days i did not do anything but thhen visited the doctor who prescribed me a topical cream Lotriderm and a dose of Fluconazole. She took a swab as well.It felt better the next day but after that it flared up again. So I revisited the doctor who prescribed me the Fluconazole for a longer duration. The swab results had not yet arrived .so the day after i took it felt better but today it got irritated again. So i went and bought canesten tablets and cream without consulting the doctor. Is it ok to use it and will it work better than what the doctor gave me ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Itchiness between the anus and vagina can also be caused by irritation from disposable wipes, panty liners, thong underwear, tight-fitting pants or soaps or detergents as well as skin conditions such as lichen sclerosis or yeast infections. I suggest you do a test vaginal discharge.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
