General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suggested to get diagnostic tests for OA & RA done. These will include CRP, anti-CCP, ESR, Joint analysis tests, X-Ray & MRI.

Get physically examined by a GP, get assessed for the severity of the pathology causing the problem before taking medications.

Medications that are effective are NSAIDs, DMARDs, Analgesics. Some analgesic ointments & sprays may be helpful. Duloxetine(Cymbalta) is also prescribed to treat chronic pain & depression.

Always take medications under your treating doctor. Do not become dependent on medications.

Do regular stretch exercises, walking, if you are a female you can do knitting. The more your joints are exercising the less pain you will experience.

You can take the help of a physical or an occupational therapist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
