Suggest Medication For Persistent Cough

I have been coughing for 3 weeks now. Week one, I had a summer cold that started with a sore throat which led to my cough. I went to my doctor and was prescribed cough medicine. Week 2, I was still coughing with greenish mucus. After that with week 3 ending, I keep coughing with clear mucus and I m starting to get headaches. I have been taking various cough medicine but it hasn t been working.
